With over 130 different lipsticks swatched, tested, and reviewed in 2022 priced at $15 or less, they were pretty incredible across the board. One of the more game-changing formulas I tried this year was Maybelline Super Stay Vinyl Ink Lipcolors; they are an ultra long-wearing, liquid lipstick with a high-shine (vinyl, if you will) finish.
Sephora also released a new formula this past year (Satin Hydrating Lipstick), which was another solid entry from the house collection. Kaleidos Lip Clay was new-to-me (and they dropped some new shades for 2022, as well) but another fantastic option for something more affordable and in a matte finish.
We cannot forget ColourPop, given that I think I’d only be working for half the year should they ever stop with their weekly launches, but there were some lovely shades of Fresh Kiss Lip Creme and Lux Lipstick launched this year.

My methodology: If you’re unfamiliar with how I like to do my year-end favorites, here’s the low down: I pull from the products I reviewed in 2021, regardless of whether they were new, limited edition, or an established range I’ve only just gotten around to reviewing. These are personal favorites, so they may or may not be the highest rated products reviewed during the year (though they will tend to be better rated, naturally!).
