Profumum Roma Alba Eau de Parfum is a softer gourmand that made me think of lemon-drizzle almond cake but someone went for reduced sugar, because it didn’t have a genuine, cake-like sweetness to it; the fragrance was airier, smoother, and creamier. There were light spices that were hard to discern individually rather than as a generalized characteristic. Over time, it became more powdery but less nutty with the woods becoming more prominent in the drydown.

It opened with the smell of acetone, though within a minute, it developed a clearer, more lemon-like bitterness that sweetened subtly over the next five minutes. The result was creamy, lemony almond cake–but like someone forgot most of the sugar, as it just seemed to have a smooth, sweeter undertone rather than being a baked treat. The cinnamon added more depth to the overall fragrance but was subtle and not detectable (to me) as specifically cinnamon initially and become slightly more noticeable after 15 minutes on my skin.
Alba seemed particularly well-blended because individual notes blurred together and were harder to distinguish from each other. It became slightly more spiced and resinous with the spice playing over the creamy, nutty, woodsy composition and amber teasing underneath. The powderiness from the iris emerged shortly after an hour but felt quite restrained in its impact, and whatever little lemon I smelled earlier had almost vanished.
It became more powdery, less nutty, and the woods smoothed out and became creamier in its drydown. There was a soft, gauze-like feel about the scent throughout its wear.
Application
For testing, I used 1/3 of a 1ml sample vial dabbed to the underside and topside of my wrist area on my left arm. I used an unscented moisturizer prior to applying the scent as this is also my swatching arm (aka, incredibly parched at any given moment) as I found scent did not hold well here otherwise. I purchased my sample in January 2022.
Longevity
It had low sillage and low projection even with four sprays from my sample vial, so it was primarily a close-wearing, skin scent from the first hour and on, though I was able to detect it on my skin for as long as 10 hours.
Personal Thoughts
I feel out of sorts detecting a lemony quality to it, because that did not seem to be a component to the scent others noted nor was it something that seemed all that suggested by the notes, but I actually enjoyed Alba a lot for its slightly sweet, lemony and nutty tones–it felt like a subtle gourmand, which is more in line with my preferences. It’s not something I feel compelled to put on a wish list to buy at some point since I don’t think I’d reach for it often enough to justify the price point. Though Profumum offers an 18ml, the price per ml is ridiculous compared to the full-sized bottle, so while smaller in size, still quite expensive.
