Lancome Kiss Me Ruby (03) L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a medium-dark pink-leaning coral with moderate, warm undertones and a cream finish. The lipstick had rich color payoff in a single layer, which went on evenly and wasn’t prone to settling into my lip lines or catching on lip texture.

The consistency was denser and firmer in the tube to the point where there was light tugging if I tried to do a longer stroke, so I had greater success with shorter strokes. Once on, the lipstick was lightweight and felt a little creamier as it continued to warm up on my lips. It stayed on well for five hours and felt lightly moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview

$32.00/0.14 oz. - $228.57 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to be "long-lasting," "richly-pigmented," and "hydrating" with "one-stroke application." The lipstick is denser with more tackiness, so it did seem to pull/drag on my lips during application a bit, though it delivered semi-opaque to opaque coverage that adhered evenly and was longer-wearing over time.

I'd recommend using shorter, more overlapping strokes to apply the color rather than a more continuous stroke, as this was comfortable and delivered full coverage and a smooth laydown of color overall. Surprisingly, the texture felt more like a traditional lipstick, the kind with more slip and creaminess, once on my lips, but it had better adhesion, which kept it in place better and prevented it from accumulating in my lip lines. Most shades wore five to six hours on me and were lightly hydrating.

There was a noticeable, powdery floral scent that translated slightly into a taste at times. It was a stronger scented product where I smelled it for a few hours into the wear, not just in the tube or when initially applied.

Lancome Sunrise Ruby (133) L’Absolu Rouge Ruby Cream Lipstick ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark orange-red with warmer undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage that adhered well to my lips with a smooth, even layer of color that was forgiving of texture imperfections and smoothed out most of my lip lines.

The texture was firmer and denser in the tube, not as creamy as most lipsticks are (including the regular L’Absolu range), but it was creamier and more comfortable to wear once it warmed up on my lips. I’d recommend applying it in shorter strokes to avoid light tugging, if that’s an issue, as the formula itself felt a lot better than the initial texture indicated. This shade lasted nicely for six hours, left a faint stain behind, and was lightly hydrating over time.
